Apple Announces Self Service Repair for Customers Starting With iPhone 12 and 13

Date: Nov 18th,2021

On November 17, apple officially announced that it would provide parts, tools and maintenance manuals to individual consumers. The program will start with iPhone 12 and iPhone 13, and Mac computers equipped with M1 chip will soon join.

iPhone is about to start Self Service Repair program

The self service repair program will be launched in the United States from the beginning of next year, and will be extended to other countries in 2022 or later.

Users will access these parts, tools, and manuals just like more than 5,000 Apple Authorized Service Providers (AASP) and 2,800 Independent Repair Service Providers.

The initial phase of the program will focus on the most frequently serviced parts, such as the iPhone LCD screen, battery and camera. Self service repair for other components will available later next year.

The Self Service Repair program will start from the iPhone 12/13 series

Jeff Williams, Apple's chief operating officer, said: "Creating greater access to Apple genuine parts gives our customers even more choice if a repair is needed."

He revealed: "In the past three years, Apple has nearly doubled the number of service locations with access to Apple genuine parts, tools, and training, and now we’re providing an option for those who wish to complete their own repairs."

The program allows those Apple users with repair skills to repair their products by themselves and use Apple's official accessories at a relatively low price.

Apple’s self service repair program makes it more convenient for those individual technicians who have knowledge and experience in repairing electronic equipment. But for the vast majority of ordinary people, they still need to visit professionals, or Apple authorized professional maintenance providers, which is the safest.

Affected by this service, apple rose $2.49, or 1.65%, to close at $153.49 in regular trading on November 18. And it once touched $155, or 2.65%.
